Cutting & Core Drilling Protocols

Stress Point Elimination.
Precision Engineering.

Maximizing slab yield requires uncompromising adherence to structural cutting physics. Çimstone premium mineral surfaces are engineered to a 7 Mohs hardness; therefore, all workshop processing must utilize continuous water-injected machinery to manage friction and thermal shock. Dry cutting is strictly prohibited and will instantly compromise the slab's integrity.

On-Site Templating & Workshop Mandates

  • Rigid Templating: Always execute on-site measurements utilizing rigid, non-flexible templating materials (heavy cardboard or digital laser).
  • Written Sign-Off: Obtain written agreement from the client regarding seam placements and edge profiles prior to cutting.
  • No On-Site Fabrication: All cutting, profiling, and polishing must be completed in the workshop. "Fitting on-site" is strictly prohibited.

Cutting Specifications

  • Machinery: Use only wet-cutting machines equipped with continuous rim diamond blades designed for hard quartz.
  • Feed Rate: Maintain a cutting speed between 3 and 3.5 meters per minute for optimal edge quality.
  • Origin Points: Never initiate a cut from the middle of the slab.

Core Drilling & Thermal Management

  • Corner Radius: All internal corners must be drilled with a diamond core bit at low speed first to prevent stress.
  • Blade Junction: Cut with the blade up to the drilled hole to complete the opening without over-cutting.
  • Thermal Insulation: Leave a 3 mm expansion gap. Heat insulation mats must be applied around cooktop cutouts.
